SEASONAL INGREDIENTS: SPRING/PRIMAVERA 2023 –  Fish in Season Right Now in Spain

The markets are currently full of fish such as Bream, Anchovy, Mackerel, Bluefin Tuna, Hake, Snapper, St. Peter’s fish, Sardine or White Bream.
 
It is a food with as many proteins as meat, rich in vitamins and minerals. Most varieties are also an important source of Omega 3, fatty acids beneficial for cardiovascular health. Fish is generally low in calories and helps to prevent diabetes and improve memory and concentration, in addition it can help to strengthen bones and dentures. It is also good for digestion and assists to nourish muscles and increase the bodies defences.
 
Sardine is a blue fish full of healthy properties as are Anchovies. Fresh or salted, when in season they are delicious!
 
Hake is a super versatile fish in the kitchen that can be prepared in many different ways.
 
Mackerel can be found at other times of the year, but now is the best time to enjoy fresh mackerel. Grill them and serve over rice with a little arugula.
 
Dorada or bream is one of the most consumed fish and can be wild or farmed (the most popular and affordable) The bream can be prepared in infinite ways and is a fish that is usually associated with special meals or dinners such as Easter. 
 
Bluefin tuna has been ‘fashionable’ for several years and can also be cooked in many ways.
